Back in the saddle again.

I know. It has been a while since I’ve updated my web page. Since I traded my press pass for a pair of bib coveralls, I’ve been without a computer. Those days are over and this cattleman returned to the information era with the purchase of a shiney new laptop computer. I’m updating my journal with a handfull of entries dating back to January 27. Enjoy!

Occationally I second-guess quitting my job so I can spend some time experiencing more of what life has to offer. But then there are days of clarity, days when I pull my great-grandma Lena Sargent from her walker to dance with me. It was the first time in years she had danced. It was the first time in my life that I had made that kind of connection with a family member three generations my elder.

I danced with her on Valentine’s Day. It was a Friday evening at about 5:30. In my old life, I probably would have been taking a lunch break at that time, preparing to go photograph a high school basketball game. I wouldn’t know anybody from either team. I’ve made the right decision, I think.

I waited a day to separate this photo from the other fog photos because this one has special meaning to me. To me, this is my current life. All I know is that it is going to take some interesting twists and turns. But I sure can’t see very far ahead.

‘Twas a foggy day here on the farm.

My sister, photographed here at Red Rocks near Denver, was in the Mile High City to interview with Regis University for grad school. I hopped in my car and went to see her.

I travelled there with my grandpa, Alfred “Bud” Hickenbottom. Here the two of us are at the Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs. I tell ya, road tripping with a grandparent is a real treat. Especially when that grandparent has as anry of a sense of humor as good ol’ Bud.

While in Denver, I got to spend some time with my old friend, Megan, who showed me the city’s nightlife and checked out some art with me.
