This is my dad shortly after getting his noggin shaved as part of a challenge to his people at the Hinkle, Ore. Union Pacific diesel shop.  Nice lookin‘ head, huh?

Today’s his birthday.  Happy birthday, Dad!

I’m extremely pleased to announce the addition of Alyssa Schukar to Lane Weddings.

Alyssa is a fantastic photojournalist who has a similar approach to myself when shooting weddings. I cannot say enough about her photography.  Alyssa has a whimsical nature about her that allows her to capture the special quirkiness of situations.  Her compositions are beautiful, inspired and full of energy.  She is just one of those people who gets it when it comes to the technical aspects of the art-form. She knows her craft well, and I’m especially excited to have her on board.

Within the next few days I’ll have some of her wedding photography folded into the Lane Weddings site.  In the mean time I encourage you to check out the new “about us” tab at http://laneweddings.com. Also check out Alyssa’s photojournalism web site and her blog.

Friday I delivered a letter of resignation to the Grand Island Independent, where I’ve worked as a staff photographer for more than 2 years.

The opportunities to make great photos are abundant at the Independent. I appreciate everything everybody there has done for me. I’ll especially miss working with Scott Kingsley and Barrett Stinson, who are among the best photographers in the state.

On the other hand, I’m excited to devote full-time attention to Lane Weddings and my clients.

March 14 will me my last day at the Independent.

A lot has happened lately…a lot that I would like to blog about.

In an effort to catch up, I might make a concerted effort to blog each of the next couple of days.

After having a really nice holiday week spent with Sarah’s family in Tecumseh and then with mine in Hermiston, Ore.(for complete coverage check out Owen’s

blog), it was time to get the Lane Weddings marketing machine rolling. January 6 I was one of the vendors at the Tri-City Bridal Expo hosted by the Nebraska Wedding Guide in Grand Island. It was great to meet so many brides and grooms. It was a solid turnout. I only had about 5 flyers left at the end of the show, so that’s about perfect. Right before the show I tweaked my packaging a little bit and updated my wedding galleries. Feel free to take a look.

Exciting new changes to the Lane Weddings site are coming later this week or early next week. Like I said, I have a lot to blog about, so stay tuned.

The photo above is a quick snap of my booth at the show.
