Look out, Omaha; here we come!

Sarah, Owen and I are going to miss living in this ol’ house. But we are excited about the future and everything it holds for us.

The house sold after being on the market for about 6 weeks–pretty darned good for Grand Island in this market. I’m looking forward to growing the business in the greater Omaha area. It will be nice to be closer to friends, family and everything that Omaha has to offer.

We are loading up the truck Sunday and will be in Omaha Monday.

Hopefully you all aren’t getting sick of my portraits of wedding couples beneath a big, dramatic skies, because I cannot get enough of them. Besides, what would a Kansas wedding be without big skies and wheat fields?

Yesterday’s wedding was splendid. Jeff and Trisha were looking marvelous, as were their attendants. And in normal Lane fashion, I pulled them away for a quickie, 5-minute portrait session at sunset. I might have new marketing material out of this image.

I’ll try to post some more photos from this wedding in the next few days.

Happy Independence Day, everybody!

These are from the wedding of Crista and Jarred at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City. The two couldn’t have picked a more beautiful setting. And with temperatures in the 70s, the guys in tuxedos couldn’t be more delighted.

I stepped out of the reception for a couple minutes to make a photo of the arch built by the groom. You can see how the wind blows the leaves in a swirling motion in the trees behind the arch in the 15-second exposure.

As I pulled up to the east shore of the lake at Mormon Island State Park during Heather and Nate’s engagement session, Heather asked me if I have a hard time getting some couples to do the things I want them to do during engagement sessions.

“Not really,” I said, answering without a lot of consideration. “Then again, I haven’t been able to convince anybody to use this shower. I think that might make for some interesting photos.”

Nate and Heather are anything but a boring couple. I had a blast photographing their engagement session. The two of them are awesome and put up with some pretty good heat, some stinky locations and one of the worst mosquito spells I’ve had to endure as a photographer.

Plus I finally got to shoot my shower scene.
