Kristin + Andrew

Once again, I’m blogging about a wedding that I’ve already delivered the photos for. I’d prefer to have the order of things opposite that, but my old blogging woes have me behind.

I felt like I got some wonderful imagery from Kristin and Andrew’s West Point, Neb. wedding. The ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Church, which is an absolutely beautiful old Catholic Church. Afterwards, the couple had a nice dinner and a kickin’ dance party at the West Point Auditorium.

I love the ol’ ball’n'chain photo.

Jenny + James

It seems forever ago when I first tried to add this group of photos to my blog. But it just wasn’t happening.

It seems like the first time I wrote about it, I wrote how much fun Jenny and James had at their wedding, and how much you could see the pure joy on the faces of their friends and families. Well that still holds true.

Sorry it took me so long to post. I hope you are enjoying your photos and your honeymoon in Southwest Asia!

New Look. New Location. New Name.

Welcome to ver. 3.0 of my blog, the blog formerly known as VIEW.

Now I’m simply calling it “the blog.” You can call it “the blog”, “your blog”, or “Lane’s blog.” I’ll probably refer to it as “my blog.” It still is a photographic journal by Lane Hickenbottom.

When I started this thing 6 1/2 years ago (before blogging was mainstream) I had no idea what my life would be like in the summer of 2008. And if somebody told me I’d have a wife and kids and would be a wedding photographer, a) I wouldn’t believe it. b) I wouldn’t believe how much fun it would all be.

As the times have changed, so has this blog.

I’ve always tried to have my blog pleasing to the eye, easy to navigate, and filled with interesting content. Hopefully nothing is changing there. I was having some technical problems with my older blogging software. It was a great little program that was the dream-child of one gracious woman. However, there is very little support for it, so I decided to go with a WordPress blog.

I hope you like the new features. Among them is a search function in the upper-left-hand corner that works quite nice when your sifting through 6+ years of content. Also you’ll find improved archives, and hopefully more successful RSS/XML feeds.

I still need to manually (ugh!) change dates and photo addresses on most of my old posts, so if you are browsing around, you’ll see that things are still under construction.

I hope you like the changes.

I’m a little behind on my blogging. A week spent moving to Omaha followed by a week spent in Oregon will do that to a person.

When I get back to Nebraska I plan to share some photos of Jenny and James’ Grand Island wedding. Then I have to post some shots from Kristin and Andrew’s wedding in West Point.

Right now I’m sitting in my hotel room which overlooks a harbor in Astoria, Oregon. I don’t have have my past wedding photos with me or I’d post them now. Tonight I’m shooting Tony and Deb’s wedding in Seaside, Oregon. I can’t wait! We are hoping to dodge the rain clouds. While the forecast shows tripple digits in store for Omaha, we are chillin’ in the 60s. Nice!

I decided I’d share this photo of Owen having his first meal in our new Omaha home. This shot was taken when only the first few items had been taken off the truck. Ah, the joy of moving!
