Laura + Andrew

Laura, Andrew and I met exactly one year prior to their wedding date to shoot their engagement session.  Boy, I hope next October is as beautiful as this one!

Maggie + Josh: Engagement Session

If you can’t tell from the photos, Maggie and Josh are a fun couple.  The leap frog idea was all Maggie.  They’ve warned me that their March wedding might also be a lot of fun.

Duly noted!

Erica + Daniel

Autumn is my very favorite time of year.  The weather is usually nice, the air smells good, and the trees are beautiful.  Erica and Dan took the autumn theme and ran with it with their wedding decorations.  The two had one of the most beautiful ceremonies I shot this year in the courtyard of the Liederkranz in downtown Grand Island.

After a quick limo ride around town, the wedding party went back to the Liederkranz–this time inside the ballroom–to celebrate with their friends and family.

Great wedding!

Engagement Session: Jenifer and Justin

Jenifer and Justin are a very fun couple.  The two came to Omaha from Lincoln for their engagement session.  Love love love the results.  Here is a small sample, each taken from the Gene Leahy Mall area downtown:

Engagement Session: Candi & Tyler

Candi and Tyler met with me in Lincoln last week for an engagement session.  We spent our time making some nice looking photos of the couple in the Haymarket, Sunken Gardens and Oak Lake.

Looking forward to the wedding!

Big Sky Wedding: Adrienne + Ben

Ben and I met when he was visiting friends at the University of Nebraska to attend the 1994 matchup of Colorado @ Nebraska, a game the Lincoln Journal Star calls the 2nd biggest game EVER at Memorial Stadium.  It was the last time the goalposts came down in Lincoln, and it was also perhaps the biggest party night of my life.

Ben and I have both grown up a lot since that meeting (I remember being introduced to this tall, goofy guy wearing a Fred Flintstone shirt).  For Ben, a lot of that is reflected in the woman he chose to spend the rest of his life with, and in the fashion the two of them got married last month in Billings, Montana.

I really enjoyed getting to know Adrienne.  The youngest of 10 children (the family photo of her siblings with children had more than 40 people in it!), she is an absolute class act.  And the wedding she planned was almost as beautiful as her beaming, contagious smile.

Ben, welcome to the club of us men who married up, and congratulations!

It was also great to be able to spend some time with Ben’s sister, my dear friend Elizabeth.  Not only was it fun hanging out and catching up, but you did an awesome job helping me light this first portrait here:

The Confidentials

So I’ve come to realize that quite a few people planning their weddings are looking at my blog.  If any of you fall into that group and are wanting to class up your wedding reception by leaps and bounds, it’s my pleasure to introduce to you a sweet band: The Confidentials. If you aren’t planning a wedding, I see from their website that you can catch them during several public performances in Lincoln and Omaha.

I shot this photograph during Stephanie and Ben’s wedding reception at 1316 Jones Street in Omaha.  These guys rock everything from Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl” to Outkast’s “Hey Ya!”.  They put on the best reception show I’ve seen since my buddy Ryan Soderlin and Barbara Nordby’s Chicago wedding in 2005–and I’ve been to a lot of weddings since then.**

The Confidentials are: Stan Spurgeon, vocals; Steve Spurgeon, vocals; Jim Fleming, guitar; Leon Adams, keyboards; Jerry DeVore, bass; Bill Nanson, drums; Michael Pujado, percussion; Davey Polson, saxophone; Bill Kearney, trombone and Barry Hitt, trumpet.  Check ‘em out.

**to be fair to The Confidentials, in 2005 I was the best man and was drinking and dancing heavily.  At Stephanie and Ben’s wedding I was working.  Music sounds different under those conditions.

Katie + Mark

A little overdue here:

Congrats to Katie and Mark who got married in Kearney at the Cottonmill.

These rockin’ photos were shot by Alyssa Schukar.  Looks like it was an awesome wedding–and the rain stayed away!

Steph and her family.

Steph was super cool to work with.   That basketball shot was awesome.  She’s a heck of an athlete.

We started the session out with the whole family, which was fun.  Way to go guys!
