Jill + Jake

I had a blast photographing Jill and Jake’s wedding the other weekend.  I worked with both of them at the Daily Nebraskan in college, which afforded me the opportunity to see many old college buddies during their wedding.

As I try to do for every wedding, I pulled the two of them aside for my signature 5-minute dusk portrait session.  What made this wedding different was that it resulted in a chain reaction of couples wanting to get in on the action.  Below you can see some of the results.  Too much fun!

These photos were taken outside of 1316 Jones Street in the Old Market of Omaha, where Jill and Jake had their reception.  The ceremony was held at the Durham Museum just a few blocks away.  Gorgeous venues!

Lakers!

I may have found a new favorite place to shoot in Omaha.  Christine and Tracy braved stiff winds the other night at Zorinsky Lake, but the results were absolutely spectacular.  As a photographer, every once in a while I make a photo that I just cannot get enough of.  This is one of those moments.  Beautiful!

OLD NUMBER!

Okay.  I’m back to 402-314-1839.  Stay tuned for the next change.

Now I might drink a beer.

NEW PHONE NUMBER!

(for today anyway)

402-890-5375

By tomorrow it might be back to the old #.

Ugh!!!

So more than a year ago I go to Alltel to have them change my # to an Omaha number anticipating moving here.  A few months ago I realized they gave me a Lincoln #.  The result: anytime somebody tries to contact me from an Omaha land line they get a message that says “The number you tried to call is not in service.”

Oh how I wish they would have gotten it right or at least have a message that says, “To dial this number, you must first dial a 1-402.”

———-

Fast Forward to today:

I try calling alltel to see if I could get a new number and have my old number forwarded to the new number.

“Sure.”

Great.  They give me 402-890-5375.

Me: So now when somebody calls the old number, they’ll be forwarded to the new #?

Alltel: No, we can’t do that.

Me: You just said that I could.

Alltel: Yes, sir.

Me: And now you are telling me you can’t.

Alltel: Yeah, we don’t forward old numbers.

Me: Can I speak to your manager.

At this point all I’m trying to do is get my old number back and they cannot facilitate that.  Thousands of ad dollars point to 402-314-1839.  Now when you call that number you get “not in service.”

Hopefully I’ll get this fixed.  Maybe I’ll just switch to ATT and get an iPhone.

Shannon and Wess: wedding bliss.

My goal this weekend was to make photos as visually stunning as Wess and Shannon’s wedding ceremony was audibly amazing.

I think everybody in attendance at the wedding in Seward, Nebraska’s United Methodist Church got a little misty-eyed when the two started singing to each other.  It was a truly marvelous and moving ceremony.  I’m really not sure how Shannon and Wess held it together.

Then the party moved on to a place I had never been: the historic States Ballroom in little old Bee, Nebraska.  Being in such a small town gave us an easy exit to find some big sky for a sunset portrait.
