Jill + Wade: sunset surprise!

As most of you know, we’ve had our fair share of cloudy, dreary days around here.  Truth be known, I’d much rather shoot on on overcast day than a sunny day.  Autumn colors just pop, it’s more manageable, less contrasty, ect., ect., ect.  The exception to this rule is during sunset, when I’d prefer to get some color back into the sky.

Well Wade and Jill ordered up just the perfect combination.  It was completely overcast all day long…except for a brief, 5-minute window when the sun peeked under the clouds just before dipping below the horizon.  It was a brief moment of absolute beauty, and we were ready for it.  Here’s a few shots from our engagement session in Nebraska City:

Laura + Aaron: fireworks under the big top

I love what I do, and I have fun each and every weekend.  But October 10 was particularly special to me because I got to document my sister-in-law Laura marry Aaron in what was an absolutely remarkable wedding day.

Laura beautifully executed her dream of having the wedding reception under a big tent in the front lawn of her parent’s farmhouse near Tecumseh, Neb.  Even though they tied the knot on the coldest day of the year since last winter, the party underneath was toasty warm and absolutely breathtaking.  Amazing, amazing wedding!

Christine + Tracy: amazingly beautiful autumn day

We’ve had some really crummy autumn days lately.  I post this while looking outside…the wind is blowing, the skies are grey and spitting little rain droplets, and it’s cold.

But Christine and Tracy managed to schedule their wedding on a cool, but beautiful wedding day.  Sweet Cakes and Roses Inc. did an amazing job decorating Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson and then wedding party got the Club at Indian Creek in Elkhorn a rockin’.  But one of the day’s biggest treats came between the ceremony and reception when the couple returned to the very place they met, a corner booth at LiT in West Omaha:

Cate + Dbo: kickin’ it old school.

I had an absolute blast photographing Dave and Cate’s wedding at the Bellevue Berry Farm a few weeks ago.  Dbo (as he’s revered by all his friends) and I raised a lot of hell together during the first few years of college.  When I think of the names and faces associated with my “misspent youth”, Dbo plays a prominent roll on that list.  I haven’t seen him for several years, so it was an absolute treat to get to celebrate with him.  I was delighted to see that he’s done so well for himself, marrying his long-time partner in crime, the beautiful Cate.  Getting to hang out with Ry-Dawg and G-Riff was also a huge treat.  Now where did I lay that forty-oz.?

Jen + Dave: Red Hot Love!

I just loved Jen’s beautiful red wedding dress!  Jen and Dave let their personalities shine during their small, intimate wedding at the Rodgers House Bed & Breakfast in Lincoln last month.  A special thanks to Melanie Falk for her help in the picture-in-picture photo.

St. John’s

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged.  I’m getting behind!

During the homily at Laura and Andy’s wedding tonight I thought I might sneak out to make a twighlight image of St. John’s on the Creighton University campus.  Turns out that the 60 seconds that I decided to sneak away just happened to be perfect timing. Beautiful building.  Beautiful ceremony tonight.
