In just over a week, this great couple will be tying the knot. For their engagement session, they brought along their adorable new son, Kyle. After the three of us rocked out a great studio session, Kyle went with grandma and grandpa while the Nicole, Tim and I hit the town.

Becky + Tom: in full bloom
I’m usually not a huge fan of shooting around flowers. I just don’t think they photograph well as a background most the time. But the nice, soft light provided by overcast skies gave the full bloom flowers at the Sass Memorial Iris Garden in Mahoney State Park a nice ‘pop’ when Becky, Tom and I went there for their engagement session. We had a great session and proved that you don’t need no stinkin’ sun to get killer photos from a sunset engagement session.
Athlon’s Big Ten preview – Husker Style
So I’ve been miserable about blogging lately. Been busy with a number of things. This has been on the shelves for quite a while now, but it features a cover photo from yours truly.
Rex Burkhead and Jared Crick were great to work with. It’s great to meet these guys who are stars within their sport and superstars within this state and find out that they are such level-headed, all-around-good guys. Crick’s arms are about as big as my waist. Here’s an outtake that I thought was fun:
Kaity + Tom: old school elegence
Kaity was a beautiful and extremely elegant bride. Tom and his groomsmen couldn’t look sharper in their U.S. Marine Corps dress uniforms. It was an elegant wedding all around punctuated by the amazing decor, entertainment and especially the food at Anthony’s Steakhouse in Omaha. Kaity is the daughter of the owners of and they pulled no punches in creating an absolutely amazing wedding reception.
Ashley + Alex: Rubber to the road.
How freaking cool was this photo opportunity for me? Alex was in need of new tires for his bike anyway, so he came up with the idea that we include a burnout in our engagement session.
Ummmm….OKAY!!!!
The fun hardly ended there. Ashley and Alex are crazy comfortable in front of the camera, making my job absolutely easy. Blessed with a great sunset, a cool location to shoot and a beautiful evening, I’d say we had a great engagement session!
Molly + Alex: Amazing day!
It was the kind of day you hope for when you plan an outdoor wedding in May. Mild, sunny, slight breeze. I simply loved Alex & Molly’s back-yard wedding. On one hand the wedding was extremely simple. On the other hand, it was textured with thoughtful, whimsical little details throughout. Things I loved included the Chuck Taylor Converse All-Stars wore by the groom & his groomsmen, the veil which was originally worn by Molly’s mother when she was married, a deeply spiritual & personal ceremony and vow exchange, and dancing down the aisle after the ceremony. Too much fun! Here’s a small selection of images:
Also had to love that the two of them used several All About Weddings Omaha vendors. The floral arrangements were created by All Seasons Floral (Dana at ASF does AMAZING work!). The reception was at the Millard Plaza Ballroom, where the Omaha Photo Booth Company was rockin’ it with their photo booth.
Whitney + Adam: Elegant Wedding
First off, what a beautiful bride. I loved her dress with the open back and floor-length veil. So pretty and elegant! Despite 30-40 mph winds that kept us indoors, everybody had a great time and we made some beautiful photos. I really dig the old Lincoln Station, where Whitney & Adam held their reception. It’s high ceilings and century-old architecture. Add a great backdrop for photos.
Brittany + Ben: and now the wedding
It seems like just yesterday that I was posting Brittany & Ben’s engagement photos and now here are the wedding images. It’s pretty transparent the love the two have for each other just by checking out the way they look at each other. They got married on a beautiful spring day (maybe a little chilly if you were wearing a bride’s maid dress) in Walnut Grove Park in Omaha. I *love* outdoor ceremonies. Afterward everybody met up at the Millard Plaza Ballroom to shake their groove thing. Check out that flower arrangement by Creating Atmosphere. Sweet! I had a great time at their wedding and was treated like family. Thanks everybody!
Aubree + Jerad: white trees
Filled with white blossoms, the trees outside St. John’s Catholic Church in Valley on Aubree & Jerad’s wedding day were just as breathtaking as the snowy white trees we photographed under more than a year ago for their engagement session. Aubree & Jerad’s wedding a couple weeks ago was a fantastic kick-off to my 2011 wedding season. According to their friends, the couple has been together for eternity and it’s great to see their happiness and love for each other blossom just like the trees.
Brittany & Ben: Rock’n'Rollers
Ben & Brittany are both musicians–with good taste I might add. It’s not often enough I find somebody who shares my love for 90s rock & alternative. For their engagement session we hit downtown Omaha. I kinda dig the blurred city lights in the second image, which was done in-camera. I think I’m on a roll with late winter, early spring engagement sessions for couples with spring weddings.
