I don’t know about you but I’m ready to start thinking about warm weather and spending some time outdoors. To get my mind in the right place, I thought I’d post some images from warmer times. This group of photos is from a fashion shoot I photographed for Sublime Bridal. In case you aren’t familiar with Sublime, they operate an excellent wedding gown store in the Shops of Legacy in Omaha.

Free Christmas Card mini-session

I’d like to invite my friends and family and clients to a free Christmas card shoot Wednesday, December 5 at dusk. This will be a free session with absolutely no opportunity to purchase anything. All that I ask is that you pay it forward by doing something nice for somebody else over the holiday season.

When: Wednesday, December 5. We’ll begin shooting at approximately 5:20. Will likely be done around 5:45

Where: The Gene Leahy Mall, downtown Omaha. We will be on the south side of the water (Old Market side) likely between the arch and the little pedestrian bridge. (If not there, we will be between little pedestrian bridge and 13th street.)

How much: Free! Well almost! This is one of the little things I like to do to spread Christmas cheer. Each year my family sends out lots of holiday cards. I love getting them back too. The one thing I do ask is that you do something nice for somebody else. Pay it forward!

How: I’ll get your email address at the shoot and send you a 5×7 300 dpi file, perfectly suitable for holiday cards. No logo. You can tone it up how you wish (B&W, vintage, whatever). You can give me credit or you don’t have to. Really, it’s free.

What to bring: Santa hats!

Restrictions: Sorry, my setup will not accommodate large family groups or multiple, disagreeable pets.

A few of my favorite things: beautiful autumn days, laughter, small towns, old churches, beer and Husker football. These are just a few of the things that made Sara & Eric’s West Point, Nebraska wedding so enjoyable!

Sara and Eric are a laid back, fun loving couple with a great crew of friends and family. Getting to shoot in West Point’s St. Mary’s church is always a treat, too! The high energy wedding party got the dance party started long before every getting to the Nielsen Center reception!

I almost forgot how to post onto my blog. And I certainly have forgotten the enjoyment of going out and making some photos just because it’s a fun thing to do. I was inspired by the beauty of Autumn to go out and shoot a few images at one of my favorite nearby parks: Platte River State Park.

Darci + Ben: Perfect outdoor wedding weather

Highs in the low 70s, no wind, partly cloudy. I’ll take it! Darci and Ben got married Saturday in a beautiful ceremony at the Elmwood Park grotto in Omaha. It was a simple and short ceremony and absolutely gorgeous. Following the ceremony, we cruised around in a VIP Limousine for a spell including a stop at the Homey Inn before finishing up at the the Old Dundee Bar & Grill for their reception. At dusk, I stole the couple away briefly for a couple quick portraits at Memorial Park, which turned out beautiful. Darci & Ben are blessed with some great friends who helped make it a day to remember.

Oh, and I should also mention the Vibram shoes the groom and groomsmen were wearing. That was a wedding first for me!

Monica & Ryan: Yeah, Mon!

I’m deeply disappointed that I didn’t get to photograph Monica and Ryan’s Jamaica wedding; however being able to shoot their 1316 Jones Street reception in Omaha was a nice little consolation.

The pictures below include a quick portrait outing we did before the reception, a shot of their fun bride & groom coozies, the gladdening of the bride dance, and (in the spirit of Jamaica) a quick dip beneath some liquid sunshine.

Lynn + Rippi: home for the holidays

Lynn and Rippi made their only visit between booking me and their wedding over Christmas break. So we were thrilled when the weather cooperated, allowing us to have an outdoor engagement session. We met up in Nebraska City where the Boston couple will tie the knot this spring. I love Nebraska City! It was fun shooting in areas where they’ll get married and finally getting to meet the two of them! It should be a beautiful wedding: outdoor ceremony behind the Lied Lodge then everybody will walk the nature trail to the barns where the reception will be held.

Alysha + Josh: swingin’ for the fences

We had some reasonable December weather when I met up with Alysha and Josh for their engagement session. Josh is a recently graduated Creighton baseball player and so we started the session in TD Ameritrade park and made some images for their save-the-date cards. Afterward we headed over the the Gene Leahy Mall to take in the Christmas Lights. Great session!
