Arnold State Recreation Area, Nebraska
Arnold State Recreation Area, Nebraska

The sun descends in harmony as the ripples disappear from the surface of the water, which is now glass-like. Now only my bobber disturbs the image of conjoined twins that is the created above and below the horizon.

Birds call out for their mates and the smells of spring dance in the air and play with my senses. The air is cool, comfortable and still.

Children play in the distance. Their laughter reminds me of how it is to discover the world for the first time. Gleeful and free.

I am one of them now: a child, wide-eyed and full of grin. Today I took up fishing again for the first time since grade school.

I cast a little more, make a handful of photos, close my eyes and take in a deep breath.

Life is good.

Thanks for reading!
