While giving me a tour of her grandparents’ farm near Litchfield, Lacey told me the one photo she would like to get from her engagement session with Jon would be a photo of the two of them sitting atop this hill in her favorite alfalfa field, a special place where to two like to sit back and enjoy the quiet scenery.

We planned to come to this spot and shoot from this vista during sunset. As storm clouds started to roll in, it became apparent that we would not have a sunset and that it was going to get dark earlier than normal.

Sometimes when it gets dark early, it shortens my engagement sessions. But with the spectacular lightning show we got to witness, we went longer than originally planned. This photo, one of the last taken before storm winds came down on us, was the perfect payoff for our patience.

Thanks for reading!
